Cornell Technical Services is in search of Subject Matter Experts with extensive knowledge in the design, development, and operation of missions, spacecraft, and instruments that align with NASA's objectives. Our focus is on assisting NASA in evaluating proposals and reviewing programs aimed at addressing significant questions in Earth Science, Heliophysics, Planetary Science, and Astrophysics.

The EASSS3 contract offers essential support for proposal evaluations, assessments, and studies related to NASA's Science Office for Mission Assessments (SOMA). This role is pivotal in providing support to NASA's Science Mission Directorate in the evaluation of innovative strategies for missions designed to tackle critical issues in Earth and Space science.

As a part-time employee or consultant, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert on review teams, conducting comprehensive technical, management, and cost assessments of proposals and Phase A concept studies.

Our operations are conducted remotely, and we seek candidates who are prepared to work part-time on an as-needed basis. Ideal candidates will possess significant direct, hands-on technical or management experience in one or more of the following domains:

  • Flight Systems
  • Mission Design and Operations, including Trajectory Analysis and Ground Systems
  • Design, Development, and Operation of Spacecraft and Spacecraft Subsystems
  • Space-Based Instruments, including Passive Remote Sensors across all Wavelengths, Active Sensors and Systems, and In-Situ Instruments for Particles and Fields or Direct Material Sampling
  • Systems Engineering for Spacecraft or Instruments
  • Space Communications and Ground Systems Development and Operations
  • Leadership in NASA Missions

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a STEM or related field pertinent to their expertise.

We will collaborate with you to assess your eligibility and identify any potential Conflicts of Interest. A skills assessment and experience summary will be conducted following the initial review.
