We are a membership-based, business advocacy organization dedicated to making the Pittsburgh/Greater Allegheny Region a thriving business community for all. Our mission is to promote economic development and growth, while fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Position Overview

The Executive Director will serve as the chief executive officer of Three Rivers Business Alliance, responsible for the overall strategic, operational, and financial management of the organization. This is a key leadership position that requires a strong vision, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Strategy
    • Develop and implement the strategic plan in alignment with the organization's mission and goals.
    • Provide visionary leadership and direction to staff, volunteers, and members.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the organization.
  • Operational Management
    • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring effective and efficient use of resources.
    • Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial stability and accountability.
    • Supervise, mentor, and support staff, promoting professional growth and development.
  • Community Engagement and Advocacy
    • Serve as the primary spokesperson for Three Rivers Business Alliance, representing the organization to the public, media, and stakeholders.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, government agencies, and community organizations.
    • Advocate for policies and initiatives that support economic development, business growth, and LGBTQ+ business concerns in the region.
  • Fundraising, Membership, and Development
    • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial support from diverse sources.
    • Develop membership and oversee membership growth and retention plans.
    • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding partners.
  • Marketing and Program Development Implementation
    • Identify the needs of members and design and oversee programs and services that meet those needs.
    • Ensure the effective delivery and evaluation of programs, adjusting as needed to achieve desired outcomes.

Qualifications

Required

Education

Bachelor's degree in business administration, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in a nonprofit organization, business association, or similar environment.

Skills

  • Proven leadership and management skills with a track record of success.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with budget development and management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred

Experience working with LGBTQIA+ communities and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within these communities.

Understanding of certification processes for minority business enterprises.

Experience in managing a membership-based organization.

Knowledge of nonprofit governance and best practices.

Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and innovation.

Knowledge of the Pittsburgh and Greater Allegheny region and its business landscape.

Familiarity with digital tools and platforms for community engagement and management.
