Income Maintenance Caseworker III

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Income Maintenance Caseworker III to join our team at Bladen County, NC. As a key member of our Social Services department, you will play a vital role in determining the eligibility of applicants and recipients for various government programs, including Medicaid.
Key Responsibilities- Determine and redetermine the eligibility of applicants and recipients for financial, medical, food assistance, and shelter programs.
- Provide leadership and training to lower-level caseworkers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, laws, and regulations related to assigned department programs.
- Respond to client inquiries, requests for assistance, and complaints regarding department programs and services.
- Schedule appointments, interview applicants, and determine eligibility based on employment and income information.
- Process referrals in a timely manner and assist outside agencies with client eligibility determination as needed.
- Screen clients for substance abuse, emotional health issues, family, and domestic violence, and provide referrals for various health and social services.
- Complete front-end investigations of child support cases, research prior court orders, and determine level of child support cooperation.
- Evaluate individuals no longer receiving WorkFirst in all Medicaid programs and refer them to adult Medicaid programs.
- Maintain accurate and complete client and program records, entering and verifying data for accuracy and completeness.
- Develop mutual responsibility agreement plans for clients, monitor compliance, and evaluate client requests for hardship exemptions and extensions.
- Resolve conflicts between clients and caseworkers as necessary and perform a variety of routine clerical and administrative duties in support of department activities.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker, or an Associate's degree in Human Services, Business Administration, Paralegal Technology, or a related area and three years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License.
