About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy General Counsel to join our team at Los Angeles Capital Management LLC. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in providing legal advice and guidance to our investment management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Legal Guidance: Offer expert legal advice on various matters, including investment management agreements, corporate policies, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead Negotiations: Conduct negotiations with external parties, including investment management agreements and marketing/distribution arrangements.
  • Structure Private Funds: Develop and structure private funds for institutional clients, including documentation for limited partnerships, CITs, and UCITS.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Develop and implement programs to ensure compliance with U.S. securities laws and regulations, as well as European and UK laws and regulations.
  • Reporting and Communication: Report to management on regulatory developments impacting the investment management industry and communicate effectively with colleagues and external parties.
Requirements
  • Experience: 15+ years of experience practicing law, primarily in investment management.
  • Academic Credentials: Strong academic credentials and membership in the California Bar.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to anticipate issues and estimate risks.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships of trust and credibility with colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Corporate Law: Comprehensive knowledge of corporate law, labor law, and international securities laws.
  • Program Development: A track record of successfully developing and implementing effective programs.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proactive problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under time pressure and manage competing priorities.
