About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Real Estate Attorney to join our team at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE. As an Associate General Counsel, you will play a critical role in providing legal services for all company business activities, with a primary focus on real estate and development related transactional matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting and Negotiating Contracts
    • Drafting and negotiating complex retail leases, CC&Rs/REAs, development agreements, and other related documentation.
    • Negotiating documents related to other major real estate transactions, such as secured and unsecured debt transactions, acquisitions and dispositions, and joint ventures.
  • Assisting Development and Leasing Teams
    • Assisting the development and leasing teams in tenant lease and other negotiations related to the design and development of retail and mixed-use projects.
    • Providing advice to the leasing and development teams in the avoidance of legal disputes, including client/tenant legal issues, tenant leases, insurance and risk management related matters, tenant defaults, and other miscellaneous legal matters.
  • Managing and Leading Negotiations
    • Managing and leading negotiations on other major real estate transactions, such as secured and unsecured debt transactions, acquisitions and dispositions, and joint ventures.
  • Providing Guidance and Advice
    • Providing guidance and advice on legal aspects of leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, joint venture, property management, operations, and other general real estate matters.
    • Providing general transaction support to the tax and finance departments.
  • Supervising and Assisting Legal Department Team Members
    • Supervising and assisting other legal department team members.
Requirements
  • Member of the California State Bar in Good Standing
  • At Least 14 Years Prior Experience
    • Negotiating and drafting complex retail leases, CC&Rs/REAs, development agreements, and other related documentation.
    • Managing and negotiating documents related to other major real estate transactions, such as secured and unsecured debt transactions, acquisitions and dispositions, and joint ventures.
  • Solid Knowledge of Real Estate Law
  • Excellent Reading, Oral/Written Communication, Negotiation, and Concise Grammatical Skills
  • Ability to Manage and Deliver Multiple Projects
    • Managing and delivering multiple projects in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ability to Interact and Communicate Diplomatically
    • Interacting and communicating diplomatically with others at all levels.
  • Strong Work Ethic and Positive Attitude
    • Having a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
