Duties and Responsibilities

As a Maintenance Worker at Bowery Residents Committee, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of our facilities. This includes:

  • Performing repairs and maintenance on buildings, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work
  • Responsible for the maintenance of light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, and other equipment
  • Replacing sheetrock, plastering, and painting walls as needed
  • Repairing exit, office, and bathroom doors
  • Replacing ceiling and floor tiles
  • Receiving and storing deliveries of maintenance and office supplies
  • Building and moving furniture as needed
  • Participating in preparation for facility inspections and fire drills
  • Assisting with maintaining the cleanliness of interior and exterior of facilities, including trash removal, power washing, and snow removal
Hours of Operation

We are a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week. Our schedule includes:

  • Sun-Thurs: 7am-3:30pm
  • Tues-Sat: 7am-3:30pm
  • Tuesday-Saturday: 3pm-11:30pm
  • Sun-Thurs: 3pm-11:30pm
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of three years consecutive experience in building maintenance and/or experience in skills mentioned above
  • Trade school/training certifications, High School diploma or GED a plus
