Rehabilitation Therapist

The Department of State Hospitals is seeking a highly skilled Rehabilitation Therapist to join our team at Patton State Hospital. As a Rehabilitation Therapist, you will work under the administrative supervision of the Program Assistant and under the general lead and clinical direction of the Chief, Rehabilitation Therapy Service.
The successful candidate will possess and demonstrate knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature of Rehabilitation Therapy services, especially those relating to mental, physical, developmental, and/or geriatric disabilities. You will also have knowledge of the process of restoration, maintenance, and development of capabilities, as well as the principles of mental health education.
Key responsibilities include:
- Utilizing and effectively applying required knowledge to establish and maintain the confidence and cooperation of persons contacted in the workplace.
- Securing accurate clinical data and recording such data systematically.
- Composing clear, accurate, and concise reports.
- Interpreting statistical data and analyzing situations accurately.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
To be eligible for this position, you must possess a Master's Degree in Art Therapy or in Art with an emphasis in Art Therapy, and be registered with the American Art Therapy Association or be eligible for such registration. A Drug Screening must be passed prior to being hired.
Working Conditions:
Patton State Hospital is a forensic psychiatric hospital established in 1890 and opened in 1893. The hospital provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area.
Special Requirements:
- A Drug Screening must be passed prior to being hired.
- A Background Investigation must be cleared prior to being hired.
- Medical Clearance must be obtained prior to being hired.
