Position Overview

The Echocardiography Technician I plays a crucial role in conducting echocardiographic assessments and ensuring the smooth operation of the echocardiography lab dedicated to adult patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts and processes echocardiographic evaluations, including two-dimensional, three-dimensional, M-mode, Doppler, and specialized procedures.
  • Executes emergency protocols as required; responsible for the transportation of both equipment and patients.
  • Supports advanced procedures such as transesophageal echocardiography, intraoperative echocardiography, pericardiocentesis, and contrast echocardiography.
  • Utilizes digital computer analysis systems to analyze and archive echocardiographic data.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of internal training programs, providing technical instruction on echocardiographic methods.
  • Participates in sanctioned research initiatives.
  • Delivers mobile echocardiography services as instructed.
  • Interprets and adheres to established policies and guidelines to define processes and achieve objectives.

Work Environment

This role is primarily performed in a clinical setting. The technician is accountable for fulfilling all job-specific responsibilities and adhering to organizational policies and procedures. Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited Specialty Training Program is required.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.

Certifications and Licenses: Basic Life Support Certification is mandatory; certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer must be obtained within 6 months of hire from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS); Cardiovascular Credentialing International Certification is also required within 6 months of hire.
