Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Endoscopy team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. As an Endoscopy Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient assessments, administer IV conscious sedation, and provide patient/family teaching and triage.
  • Collaborate with providers to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patient conditions.
  • Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in medical records.
  • Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and provide basic medical data for providers.
  • Assist providers in performing GI endoscopic procedures as directed.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork.
  • Assist with orientation of new personnel to ensure they are appropriately trained.
  • Execute and document ongoing patient communication.
  • Provide instruction to ensure patient understanding of medical conditions and compliance with treatment instructions.
  • Insert, monitor, regulate, and discontinue IVs as required.
  • Administer medications, blood products, and conscious sedation.
  • Monitor patients having conscious sedation and during recovery.
  • Monitor inventory of medical and surgical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and controlled substances.
  • Routinely inspect and observe condition and operation of diagnostic equipment and instrumentation.
  • May clean, sterilize, and prepare instruments according to established protocols.
  • Oversee and lead work activities of other Clinic Nurses and Endoscopy Technicians.
  • Insert and administer intravenous therapy per unit protocol.
  • Administer preoperative and pre-procedure medication as ordered and indicated per unit protocol.
  • Recognize early changes in patient condition, unusual events, or post-operative complications and initiate appropriate action.
  • Collaborate with anesthesia services in the administration of moderate sedation.
Work Environment

This position is typically performed in a clinical environment. The successful candidate will be accountable for satisfying all job-specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.

Requirements
  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program.
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
