Position Overview
Deliver essential healthcare services and expert consultation for patients and their families, emphasizing wellness, health promotion, and surgical care when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer comprehensive primary care in accordance with the regulatory standards established by the State of Michigan and the Rural Health Clinic (RHC) Code of Federal Regulations, as well as the Joint Commission (JC) and Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) guidelines. This includes performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, prescribing and managing medical treatments and medications, and overseeing physician assistants and/or nurse practitioners to coordinate patient care effectively.
- Conduct thorough screening and routine examinations to establish a health baseline, address the patient's concerns, diagnose conditions, and promote overall health.
- Order, perform, and interpret standard laboratory tests; communicate results to patients in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Evaluate patient information and symptoms via phone or digital platforms (e.g., MyChart) to prescribe treatments or refer to suitable resources.
- Provide consultations and guidance to patients to support their recovery and encourage self-care at home, while promoting health through ongoing follow-up.
- Engage in clinic quality improvement initiatives.
- Carry out additional duties as required and appropriate within the scope of practice.
- Dedicate to the continuous enhancement of patient experience, which encompasses patient safety, quality of care, and exceptional service. Uphold the organization's established values.
Qualifications
- Doctorate from an accredited Medical College is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience is preferred.
- State of Michigan Physician License (MD) or Osteopathic Physician License (DO) is required upon hire.
- DEA Registration is mandatory upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC is required within 90 days.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are preferred, depending on the patient population.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Frequent standing and walking are required.
- Occasional sitting, bending, and reaching above shoulder level.
- Frequent hand dexterity and visual acuity are necessary.
Work Environment
This position is based in a healthcare setting focused on cardiovascular practices.
Employment Type
Full-time position with day shifts and on-call weekend responsibilities.
