Position Title:

Mid-Level Systems Engineer - GEOINT

KBR is looking for a mid-level Systems Engineer to provide support to government clients in the Washington Metropolitan Area. The role involves offering expertise in GEOINT Testing to develop, coordinate, and implement a risk-based assessment program for GEOINT product quality. The Systems Engineer will utilize systems engineering methodologies pertinent to DoD acquisition initiatives to conduct thorough risk evaluations of GEOINT data and TCPED capabilities, facilitating comprehensive quality assessment studies. This position requires staying informed about upcoming updates to the National System for GEOINT (NSG), including systems, capabilities, and sensors, through the review and coordination of Mission Partner Requests for Change (RFC), examination of system documentation, and schedule tracking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the National System for GEOINT (NSG), systems engineering methodologies, and GEOINT capabilities within both legacy and cloud environments.
  • Contribute to early product quality requirements assessments for NSG system developments, upgrades, sensor integrations, and other enhancements through RFC reviews.
    • Facilitate Subject Matter Expert (SME) evaluations of related RFCs and documentation to gauge product quality risks and impacts.
    • Document and communicate findings to RFC Points of Contact (POCs) and monitor the approval process.
  • Assist in the creation and upkeep of product quality standard operating procedures (SOPs), Concept of Operations (CONOPs), architectural designs, handbooks, strategic plans, and reference materials.
  • Participate in program milestone events, including Test Planning Meetings and Operational Acceptance Tests, providing recommendations based on assessments, analyses, and coordination efforts.
  • Conduct product quality risk assessments for ad hoc Image Quality support requests from mission partners, stakeholders, and DoD Service components.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or related technical/scientific fields such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related STEM discipline.
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience in government or industry, particularly in areas such as DoD/IC Acquisition Process, Requirements Process, PPBES Process, or systems engineering of complex System of Systems or Service-Oriented Architecture/Cloud environments.
  • Strong grasp of the systems engineering lifecycle, including independent testing and data verification, requirements gathering, and concept of operations development.
  • Experience in developing and evaluating product quality requirements and specifications, particularly in the image science domain, focusing on image processing, formation, optics, and digital signal processing.
  • Ability to apply image science knowledge to formulate test plans and procedures for assessing data quality and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in identifying data requirements to effectively conduct product assessments aligned with testing objectives.
  • Familiarity with software functionality and quality testing, along with basic image science principles to evaluate visual quality of imagery products.
  • Software development skills in support of systems engineering tasks and data analysis, particularly in C/C++, Python, JAVA, Matlab, IDL, and/or scripting languages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering or related technical/scientific fields such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related STEM discipline.
