The UHealth Tower Department of Perioperative Services is excited to announce a Full Time opportunity for a Perioperative Nurse to join our team.

The operating rooms are equipped with specialized teams across various services including:
Cardiac-Thoracic-Vascular, Multispecialty Robotics, General Surgery, Colorectal, ENT/Head & Neck, Urology, GYN/GYO, Orthopedics, and Neurosurgery. We seek enthusiastic, driven perioperative nurses eager to contribute to a vibrant, innovative, academic setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate assigned patients and document nursing care plans, reporting any changes in patients' conditions and vital signs.
  • Adjust treatment plans based on patient responses, conditions, and physician directives.
  • Analyze and report diagnostic tests to assess patient health, collaborating with physicians and healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care strategies.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering their age and cultural background while providing relevant information regarding their care plans.
  • Foster a compassionate atmosphere by offering psychological support and performing necessary patient tests while safely administering medications within the scope of practice.
  • Maintain accurate records of medications and treatments in compliance with regulatory standards, policies, and physician orders.
  • Communicate care plans promptly to patients, families, and team members, ensuring adherence to all regulatory guidelines.
  • Employ best practices for patient care transitions and utilize available resources for discharge planning. Prioritize and adjust assignments to achieve goals and deliver exceptional patient care, seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Adapt to evolving work demands and environments while safely operating medical equipment.
  • Serve as a mentor to new staff, aiding their acclimatization to the healthcare environment and direct patient care roles.
  • Provide constructive feedback as needed and adhere to University and unit-level policies, safeguarding University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program, Bachelor's degree (BSN) preferred.

Certification and Licensing:

  • Valid Florida Registered Nurse License, ACLS, BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in operating room nursing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:

  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Understanding of nursing care methodologies and procedures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety protocols (e.g., sanitation, decontamination).
  • Excellent patient interaction skills.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve a variety of issues.
  • Capacity to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Proficient in both oral and written communication.
