Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Transporter to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a Patient Transporter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items throughout the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport patients between departments and to/from patient care areas via wheelchair, wagon, crib, bed, stretcher, and other transport equipment, or ambulation as requested.
  • Maintain patient charts during transport and ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  • Collect and return various types of equipment to proper staging/storage locations.
  • Disinfect and clean transport equipment before and after each patient use and as required.
  • Alert caregivers immediately to any signs of patient distress, change in status, or clinical equipment malfunction.
  • Work closely with hospital staff and openly communicate and problem-solve to ensure clinical staff and patient needs are met.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma, GED preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Incumbent must complete and successfully pass a hospital-provided BLS class within 90 days after hire and re-certify on a bi-annual basis.
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Service/Quality focused to meet a wide range of needs.
  • Able to navigate to/from various locations throughout the facility.
  • Problem solver that can think quickly in cases of emergencies or unusual situations.
  • Able to multi-task and work at a fast pace.
  • Displays neat, professional appearance with a smile.
  • Physical ability to withstand frequent to prolonged walking, standing, pushing, pulling, and transferring patients.
