Maintenance Technician I

The Maintenance Technician I plays a vital role in ensuring the overall maintenance, operation, and safety of our facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, plumbing, electrical, painting, minor carpentry, and equipment repairs.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize basic hand and power tools, such as hammers, saws, screwdrivers, wrenches, and hand drills, as well as basic electrical inspection and electrical test equipment and tools.
- Assist in performing minor electrical repairs to building electrical systems.
- Paint interior and exterior walls, doors, ceilings, beams, carport areas, fences, etc.; refinish furniture as required.
- Repair, move, assemble, install, and set up heavy equipment and furniture, picture frames, etc.
- Assist with general plumbing repairs to building systems.
- Assist in performing minor carpentry work.
- Assist in maintenance and repair of all facility equipment, including laundry, food service, and nursing equipment.
- Assist with routine maintenance of facility equipment; maintain log books as required.
- Observe conditions of the facility and report any problems noted to Management.
- Demonstrate cooperative behavior with staff, colleagues, and supervisors at all times.
- Participate in training as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Possess mechanical aptitude; able to learn and retain basic skills of the trade.
- Able to work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines.
- Able to establish effective working relationships with others throughout the facility.
- Able to learn to read diagrams, and operating and maintenance instructions.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Trade or vocational school training preferred.
- Must complete and pass a physical examination with tuberculosis (TB) screen prior to employment.
- Employment contingent upon fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time and to stand, walk, and sit intermittently.
- Able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Able to relate to and work with the disabled, ill, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
