Job Title: Transportation Planner

We are seeking a skilled Transportation Planner to join our team at Kelly Services, Inc. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external customers to understand their business needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize knowledge of the transportation planning system to create comprehensive plans that meet key performance metrics and drive down costs.
  • Make informed decisions regarding transportation methods, carrier costs, and performance based on a thorough understanding of business and customer needs.
  • Serve as a liaison between the company and customers, consulting on supply chain optimization and ensuring timely delivery appointments.
  • Assume accountability for service failures and develop innovative solutions to recover service levels.
  • Communicate accurate shipment and transportation data effectively, including freight flows, costs, and related issues.
  • Ensure the accuracy of transportation billings, reconciliations, reports, and other datasets.
  • Research routes, rates, and vendor services to maintain competitive pricing and enhance customer relationships.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and utilize Lean Concepts and problem-solving methods to identify and implement departmental enhancements.
  • Audit carrier freight billings and exceptions to guarantee accuracy and support the freight claims process.
Requirements:
  • Strong assessment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to summarize and present information effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other PC-based applications (Word, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to convey supply chain solutions to customers and team members.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, particularly Hours of Service.
  • Adaptability and ability to support the organization through change while building sustainable business relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills for conducting data-driven recommendations and strategic business analyses.
  • Commitment to a customer-first approach.
  • Possibly a Bachelor's degree, but an Associate's degree with relevant experience or military logistics experience will be considered.
