Job Summary

The Supervisor of Refugee Support is responsible for supervising a team of case managers and other social services staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to address the unique challenges faced by asylum seekers. This position requires a strong understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by asylum seekers and the ability to develop and implement strategies to address these challenges.

This is an exempt position that requires flexibility to work some evenings and occasional weekends as necessary to meet the needs of asylum seekers. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or related field with a minimum of 4 years of direct social service supervisory experience, recognizing the importance of cultural competence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of case managers and other social services staff, providing guidance and support to ensure they are well-equipped to address the unique challenges faced by asylum seekers.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the provision of comprehensive support and services to asylum seekers.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Social Services in approving employee timesheets and time off requests, recognizing the importance of a flexible schedule for our diverse clientele.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to ensure the shelter operates safely, comfortably, and in full compliance with DHS and OTDA regulations as they relate to asylum seekers.
  • Generate regular progress reports, emphasizing the progress and challenges faced by asylum seekers.
  • Collaborate closely with housing specialists and employment services staff to assess asylum seekers' readiness for housing and/or employment.
  • Organize and facilitate community outreach and related activities tailored to the specific needs of asylum seekers.
  • Act as a liaison and representative for community interactions as required, fostering positive relationships that support the well-being of asylum seekers.
