About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Voc Rehab Administrator II at the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as a deep understanding of vocational rehabilitation and deafblind services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage statewide vocational rehabilitation programs, including the Kentucky OVR Deafblind Services.
  • Provide technical assistance to Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) staff statewide, defining program goals and objectives, maintaining detailed records of services to consumers, developing outreach materials, and writing policies related to providing services for individuals who are Deafblind.
  • Coordinate and/or directly provide for a person-centered planning approach to services for OVR consumers and their families and networks, completing necessary documentation and reports regarding consumer progress, and communicating regularly with referring VR counselor.
  • Provide technical assistance to OVR staff to identify specialized resources, assistive technology training, employment, and other services for individuals who are Deafblind, and consult on issues such as appropriate Deafblind etiquette.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other public and private organizations in the state that specialize in services to individuals who are Deafblind, maintaining a registry database for identifying Kentuckians who are DeafBlind.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in rehabilitation, rehabilitation teaching or therapy, guidance and/or counseling, psychology, sociology, orientation and mobility, social work, special education, education, education with emphasis in vocational counseling, public or business administration, or a related field.
  • Five years of professional or administrative experience in a rehabilitation program or professional experience in rehabilitation, rehabilitation teaching or therapy, vocational assessment, employer relations, rehabilitation technology, rehabilitation counseling, vocational evaluation, supported employment, job placement, guidance and/or counseling, psychology, sociology, orientation and mobility, social work, special education, education, or education with emphasis in vocational counseling, customized employment, health studies, human relations, human resources, occupational therapy, physical therapy, school counseling, or a related field.
  • One year of the required experience must include rehabilitation management or supervisory experience.
  • Current certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) will substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • A bachelor's degree plus an additional two years of professional experience in rehabilitation, rehabilitation teaching or therapy, vocational assessment, employer relations, rehabilitation technology, rehabilitation counseling, vocational evaluation, supported employment, job placement, guidance and/or counseling, psychology, sociology, orientation and mobility, social work, special education, education, education with emphasis in vocational counseling, customized employment, health studies, human relations, human resources, occupational therapy, physical therapy, school counseling, or a related field will substitute for the required master's degree.
Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Occasional travel will be required to coordinate services between customers and the agency.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS.
