Pharmacist Manager of Medication Procurement

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacist to serve as the Manager of Medication Procurement in our Pharmacy Department. This role is responsible for overseeing the procurement, inventory management, and distribution of medications within our facility.

About the Role
  • This position requires a valid license and current registration to practice as a Pharmacist issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED)
  • Four (4) years of satisfactory full-time experience as a licensed practicing Pharmacist, of which at least two (2) years shall have been in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity in a Pharmacy in a hospital, health or medical facility

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating drug procurement operations and inventory management to ensure critical drug availability, accurate inventory value assessment, compliance with 340B, optimized inventory turns, and minimized drug expirations
  • Ensuring timely submission of Central Office required 340B/Sentry audits
  • Maintaining computerized systems, split-billing software programs and technologies utilized in purchasing operations related to the 340B program
  • Leading representative for annual mock Audits
  • Identifying and evaluating available and new technologies to assist in inventory management
  • Ensuring that all records are maintained in accordance with regulation and policy
  • Generating purchasing and inventory reports as requested by departmental leadership
  • Maintaining responsibility for borrow and loan systems from other hospitals
  • Coordinating and maintaining timely flow of purchasing and receipts with Accounts Payable
  • Assisting in managing vaccine supply including temperature monitoring
  • Maintaining oversight of emergency supplies (influenza, bioterrorism, chempack etc.)
  • Coordinating inventory to resolve/manage backorders, shortages or recalls and secures acceptable product alternatives when necessary
  • Evaluating and adjusting par levels in response to ongoing utilization, shortages, waste and critical needs
  • Continually reviewing and analyzing operations recommending and implementing operational changes, new technologies, etc. that will increase the efficiency and level of service of the pharmacy in collaboration with Director of Pharmacy as well as Asst. Director of Clinical Services
  • Participating in the recruitment, retention, performance enhancement and competency assessment of subordinate staff in collaboration with Stock Room Supervisor and Pharmacy management team members
  • Participating in the development of tools and standards to establish and improve competency levels of the support staff including orientation of new employees, in-service training, and competency assessments
  • Participating in continuous quality assessment and improvement activities and medication safety initiatives
  • Participating in or leading various committees, task forces, and performance improvement teams as assigned
  • Supervising adherence to DSCSA requirements
  • Supporting inpatient controlled substance distribution systems
