Key Responsibilities:

- Review and update departmental policies and procedures annually, making recommendations for improvements.
- Support budget development and manage departmental expenses within set limits.
- Recruit, train, and evaluate staff to ensure a skilled and competent workforce.
- Assess employee performance and provide recommendations for promotions, transfers, and other personnel decisions.
- Schedule staff assignments to maintain optimal food production and service quality.
- Develop and conduct training programs for new staff and ongoing education for existing personnel.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the facility.
- Conduct regular inspections of dining service areas to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Report any hazardous conditions or incidents promptly to management.
- Maintain accurate records of departmental expenditures and food costs.
- Make recommendations for equipment needs and improvements.
- Perform frontline duties as necessary to support team operations.
- Ensure that food supplies are adequately stocked and compliant with safety standards.
- Monitor food safety and sanitation practices consistently.
- Create a warm and inviting atmosphere for residents during meal service.
Work Environment:
- Primarily in a commercial kitchen setting, with exposure to varying temperatures.
Work Pace:
- Fast-paced, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and interruptions effectively.
Qualifications:
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two years as a culinary supervisor in a hospitality or healthcare setting.
- At least five years of experience in food production and management.
- Two years of supervisory experience.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Experience in food production procedures and knowledge of relevant regulations.
- Leadership skills with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
- Genuine compassion for and interest in serving the elderly population.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with organizational policies.
