Position Overview:
As a Cashier, you will consistently provide warm and cooperative service to both internal and external customers at our retail locations, which operate around the clock. Your role involves efficiently processing customer transactions in a safe and courteous manner, whether at a traditional checkout stand, a self-checkout lane, or the customer service desk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and engage customers, ensuring a friendly atmosphere that emphasizes customer care.
  • Utilize checkout equipment such as cash registers and scanners to process transactions accurately.
  • Employ suggestive selling techniques to enhance customer satisfaction and sales.
  • Handle monetary transactions, including cash, checks, and gift certificates, while adhering to cash handling policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product locations and pricing to assist customers effectively.
  • Ensure a clean and organized checkout area, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Assist in stocking and rotating merchandise as needed.
  • May be assigned to support self-checkout stations or customer service as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet operational needs.
  • Comply with all regulations regarding the sale of restricted items.

Self-Checkout Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an active presence in the self-checkout area to assist customers and ensure smooth transactions.
  • Engage with customers during their self-checkout experience to provide support and resolve any issues.
  • Monitor multiple transactions simultaneously, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prioritize safety by addressing any concerns in accordance with company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Effective communication skills for customer interactions.
  • Ability to complete necessary paperwork and conduct visual inspections.
  • Physical capability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Proficiency in operating checkout equipment.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform various physical tasks.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Capacity to learn and retain product information and company policies.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately.

As mandated by local laws, certifications related to food safety and the sale of restricted items may be required.
