This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in the essential engineering, deployment, and upkeep of the core infrastructure that supports our quantitative investment methodologies.
The Systems Infrastructure Specialist plays a pivotal role in understanding the tools, libraries, and computing frameworks utilized by the team, enabling the development, execution, and resolution of effective solutions.
Your responsibilities will include managing project deliverables while leveraging advanced technologies to meet business needs, which encompass capacity planning, disaster recovery, data center oversight, and application support.
To excel in this role, you should be a self-driven individual with a swift understanding of emerging technologies, capable of efficiently managing multiple high-priority tasks.
Key Responsibilities:- Guarantee continuous access to high-performance computing resources for users.
- Work closely with investment professionals to address current computing requirements and plan for future demands.
- Manage operating system and core library upgrades, optimizing the computing environment.
- Automate changes to the environment and scaling processes.
- Monitor and enhance existing server, network, and application configurations, ensuring seamless integration of new equipment.
- Anticipate and expand the enterprise systems infrastructure to meet user and business needs.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior members of the Infrastructure Service teams.
- Deliver comprehensive IT service support to business units, including on-call responsibilities and weekend maintenance duties.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; experience in financial services is a plus.
- At least 3 years of experience in Linux administration, with Redhat or Ubuntu certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Office 365).
- 3+ years of experience with VMware, Windows Servers, SAN, and server hardware.
- Proficiency in configuration and automation tools such as systemd, Puppet, Chef, GitLab Runner, and Jenkins.
- Strong programming skills in Python, PowerShell, and Bash scripting.
- Demonstrated Linux expertise (Apache, Bind, ipfwadm/iptables, etc.).
- Familiarity with integrated Windows and Linux environments (Kerberos, Centrify, Active Directory).
- A solid background in IT operations and engineering, preferably within financial services.
- Technical proficiency, effective communication skills, project management capabilities, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
