The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Legal & Compliance division, you will engage with multiple departments and projects, offering legal counsel across diverse areas. Your responsibilities will include supporting the institutional business, overseeing the global ESG initiative, managing the outsourcing program, and facilitating the firm's expansion into new markets and services. You will negotiate contracts with major clients and service providers while collaborating with management to adapt policies in response to evolving regulations, thereby driving results in critical areas.

The Day-to-Day:

  • This role involves senior-level professional responsibilities, where you will enhance your skills, take on greater responsibilities, and operate under general guidance.
  • Provide legal support for the institutional business, which encompasses:
    • Negotiating investment management agreements.
    • Offering legal advice to the institutional funds team.
    • Advising management within the institutional sector.
    • Reviewing requests for proposal submissions.
    • Assessing responses to due diligence inquiries.
    • Assisting the institutional business in navigating new and changing regulations across various jurisdictions.
  • Serve as the primary legal advisor for the global ESG program, which includes offering guidance on evolving ESG regulations in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Provide legal insights on new and changing regulations as required.
  • Deliver legal support for the outsourcing program, which includes:
    • Overseeing the review, negotiation, and approval of service provider agreements, data processing agreements, and related amendments.
    • Offering legal counsel to the outsourcing initiative.
  • Facilitate the firm's expansion efforts by assisting in the establishment of new subsidiaries, securing licenses for expanded services, and negotiating real estate contracts.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel.
  • Educate paralegals, fellow attorneys, and business colleagues on new and changing regulations.

Your Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, with bar admission.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience at an AmLaw 200 law firm, or at least 3 years at an AmLaw 200 firm combined with 2+ years of in-house corporate experience.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation.
  • Background in providing legal advice on evolving regulations to large corporate entities.
