Role Summary:
The Air Cargo Operations Specialist is tasked with organizing the warehouse, managing equipment, loading and unloading air freight, ensuring the safe and compliant handling of hazardous materials, and achieving customer satisfaction through the precise and secure reception and storage of incoming and outgoing shipments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive cargo and mail from various stakeholders, ensuring thorough checks for damage or tampering, accurate counting, and proper loading and unloading of shipments.
  • Verify freight for correct piece count, weight, dimensions, and necessary documentation during the acceptance or delivery process.
  • Issue appropriate warehouse receipts or obtain signed delivery confirmations.
  • Conduct daily preventive maintenance and safety inspections on equipment.
  • Operate essential cargo handling machinery, including forklifts, aircraft pallets, and pallet jacks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including snow and ice removal from walkways and loading docks.
  • Keep the work area tidy, reporting any damaged or malfunctioning equipment as necessary.
  • Ensure the safe and compliant handling of hazardous materials and associated documentation.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Current certification in Dangerous Goods Handling (IATA & 49CFR) is required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is necessary.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and elevated noise levels typical of an airport environment is essential.
  • Ability to regularly lift items weighing over 50 pounds.
  • Capability to work effectively under time constraints.
  • Availability for varied shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • A valid Driver's License is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Must be capable of lifting a 50-pound suitcase from the ground to a height of 18 inches and carrying a 50-pound suitcase for distances up to 25 feet. Physical dexterity is necessary for performing repetitive tasks, including bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting for extended periods. Adequate vision and physical ability to safely execute the essential functions of the role are required.

Work Environment:
This position operates in an airport setting, both indoors and outdoors, where extreme weather conditions may be encountered.
