Job Summary

The Anesthesia Technician 2 plays a vital role in supporting Anesthesiologists with routine to complex procedures before, during, and after anesthesia procedures. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares, calibrates, and verifies the proper working order of equipment before procedures.
  • Cleans anesthesia equipment and work areas to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
  • Stocks anesthesia supplies in Operating Rooms and satellite anesthesia areas.
  • Assists Anesthesiologists with procedures by passing supplies, instruments, and lines.
  • Cleans tables, equipment, and work areas in Operating Rooms on completion of each case.
  • Responds to requests for supplies and drugs from Nurse Anesthetists, Anesthesiologists, and Surgical Teams.
  • Washes, dries, and prepares for sterilization all non-disposable anesthesia equipment.
  • Checks equipment to ensure working order and reports any issues to Biomedical Engineering.
Requirements
  • General knowledge of anesthesiology standards and practices, modalities, therapies, terminology, medications, and equipment.
  • Skill in preparing Operating Rooms for required purposes.
  • Ability to react calmly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to clean and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Relational skills required to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, and hand-held scanning.
