Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of approximately 40 employees, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of daily tasks and projects.
- Develop and implement safety and quality programs to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the General Manager to direct, coordinate, and facilitate the daily activities of lab operations department managers and supervisors.
- Provide direction and guidance to ensure production goals and customer expectations are consistently met in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, providing clear and concise information on testing capabilities and results.
- Manage budgets and oversee the logistical processes to ensure efficient operation of the lab.
- Participate in inventory management and review budgetary reports to provide insights to the leadership team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a science or technical-related discipline or a minimum of 7 years of experience in a management role, preferably with operations management experience in an accelerated-growth organization.
- At least 5 to 10 years of Environmental experience, including Organic, Inorganic, and Metals background.
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety and current testing capabilities.
- Proven ability to support and train staff members to meet customer expectations.
- Strong computer skills and basic mathematical skills, with the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. on occasion, and stand on feet for long periods of time.
- Technical leadership skills to operate various testing equipment and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Proven ability to multitask and work under strict time lines, with strong organizational, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Understanding of continuous improvement disciplines such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, etc.
