Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Food Services to lead our culinary team at The Villages at Oak Ridge. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our food services department, ensuring that our residents receive high-quality, nutritious meals in a clean and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement menus that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents
  • Supervise and train a team of cooks, servers, and other food service staff
  • Manage food inventory, ordering, and storage to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as clinical and environmental services, to ensure seamless operations
  • Process diet changes and new diets as received from clinical services
  • Interview residents and family members to gather dietary information and preferences
  • Ensure proper training for all new employees to coincide with the Culinary Apprenticeship Program
  • Maintain a productive working relationship with other department supervisors and coordinates food services to assure that daily services can be performed without interruption
  • Ensure that stock levels of staple/non-staple food, supplies, equipment, etc., are always maintained at adequate levels
  • Purchase food service supplies, equipment, etc., as required
  • Implement procedures for the safe operation of all food services equipment
  • Provide substitute foods of similar nutritive value to residents who refuse food served
  • Control and remain within budget requirements for supplies, food, and labor costs through the use of the company spend down sheet
  • Maintain proper certifications and/or licenses required, if applicable
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in food services management, preferably in a senior living or healthcare setting
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification required; Certified Food Service Manager (CFM) certification preferred
  • Similar national certification for food service management and safety from a national certifying body required
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and maintain verbal and written communication with co-workers, supervisors, residents, family members, visitors, vendors, and all business associates
