Job Description

Western Digital is seeking a highly skilled System Test Engineer to join our team. As a System Test Engineer, you will be responsible for verifying the compatibility of Western Digital storage drives in enterprise customer systems.

You will work closely with development engineering and customer technical support to ensure the quality of the product's design and to verify that the product works flawlessly in the customer's systems. This includes configuring systems for test, monitoring and analyzing drive logs, system logs, and bus traces to determine test status.

You will also be responsible for isolating, analyzing, and documenting test failures as they occur. Additionally, you will develop and maintain test scripts and automation.

Responsibilities
  • Verify the compatibility of Western Digital storage drives in enterprise customer systems
  • Work closely with development engineering and customer technical support to ensure the quality of the product's design
  • Configure systems for test, then monitor and analyze drive logs, system logs, and bus traces to determine test status
  • Isolate, analyze, and document test failures as they occur
  • Develop and maintain test scripts and automation
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer), Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics (Graduation dates between May 2024 - December 2024)
  • Experience with application-level scripting (Python, Perl, Tcl, etc.)
  • A hands-on approach to validating complex computer systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively
  • An ability to analyze failures in detail and independently investigate both hardware and software system issues
  • Familiarity with storage interface protocols (SATA, SAS, NVMe)
  • Application-level programming exposure (Java, C++, C#, etc.)
  • Experience working with Windows and Linux
