POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the Principal, this role is pivotal in collaborating with the School Leadership Team and staff to foster a nurturing environment that prioritizes learning, support, and safety, enabling students to thrive academically and reach their fullest potential. This position is instrumental in establishing a well-organized and secure atmosphere across classrooms and school facilities, while assisting school leadership in implementing an effective behavior management framework.

South High School, Campus

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. At least an Associate Degree or currently enrolled in higher education.
  2. A minimum of two years of experience working with youth.
  3. Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including effective communication, team building, decision-making, and a strong commitment to the mission of Carmen and its students.
  4. Proven ability to meet assigned responsibilities and objectives.
  5. Experience in implementing effective student behavior interventions and classroom management strategies.
  6. A genuine passion for quality education and student success.
  7. Capacity to lead and operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining a mature perspective on challenges.
  8. Aptitude for supporting classroom educators and enhancing school culture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Behavior Management
  • Collaborates with school leaders to assist in the development of behavior management systems and practices that enhance learning and teaching.
  • Oversees the implementation of culture incentive systems for students.
  • Manages the detention list effectively.
  • Communicates with parents regarding disciplinary matters as necessary.
  • Utilizes Kickboard for managing student discipline records and reporting.
  • Monitors the quality of In-School Intervention (ISI) as directed by school leaders (when applicable).
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned by the Principal.
School Culture
  • Fosters positive relationships with students, educators, and families through effective communication and genuine concern.
  • Ensures adherence to school uniform policies by modeling high expectations and ensuring consistency among staff, while notifying parents as required.
  • Assists with student arrivals, hallway supervision, and departures at the conclusion of the school day.
  • Supports orderly transitions between classes and ensures a strong staff presence during these times.
  • Monitors the cafeteria environment (lunch, recess, lunch detention) to promote a safe and positive school culture.
  • Contributes to maintaining a disciplined school culture that upholds high academic and behavioral standards.
  • Supports the implementation of consistent school-wide management practices for all students, including individualized management plans that incorporate discipline, structure, appropriate incentives, and high expectations as directed by the Dean of Students.
  • Maintains effective communication and strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Tracks and monitors data for students referred for behavioral issues.
  • Supports existing behavior intervention plans through daily check-ins with students, family communication, and staff collaboration.
  • Facilitates restorative practice meetings with students, ensuring they are constructive and provide clear next steps.
  • Participates in all required meetings and professional development opportunities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position primarily operates Monday through Friday; however, evening and weekend work may be required as necessary.
