Bloomington, Indiana, United States Indiana University Bloomington Full time
Position Overview
Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Mosquito-Borne Disease

Appointment Type: Non-Tenure Track

Department: Epidemiology and Biostatistics

Location: Bloomington

Position Summary

An opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow specializing in mosquito-borne disease epidemiology is available within the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Indiana University - Bloomington. This role involves working closely with Dr. Andre Wilke, focusing on the ecological dynamics and behavioral patterns of mosquito populations that transmit arboviruses, as well as the broader epidemiological aspects of mosquito-borne diseases.

The postdoctoral fellow will be appointed for a one-year term, with the possibility of annual renewal based on performance evaluations. The position offers competitive benefits and compensation aligned with NIH stipend standards.

Applications will be continuously reviewed, with priority given to those submitted by the specified date. The search will remain active until a suitable candidate is identified. The start date for the position is flexible and can be discussed individually.

About the Research Group:
Dr. Wilke leads a research team within the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, focusing on innovative studies that enhance our understanding of how mosquito vector species adapt to urban settings and the implications of these adaptations for their ecology, behavior, and the health risks they pose to human populations.

The lab's research aims to establish a quantitative framework to identify the critical factors influencing mosquito vector proliferation, while also fostering capacity building, preparedness, and response strategies for outbreaks.

Key Responsibilities:
The postdoctoral fellow will engage in research focused on the ecology and behavior of mosquito vector species in urban environments. The selected candidate is expected to contribute to multiple collaborative projects involving both national and international partners, taking a lead role in at least one project.

Research topics will encompass the analysis of socioecological factors influencing mosquito population proliferation at both global and local levels, the assessment of transmission potential for various mosquito-borne diseases (such as Zika, dengue, and chikungunya) across different regions and seasons, and the development of statistical models for disease transmission.

Salary and Rank:
Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Application Instructions:
Interested candidates should submit a CV, a statement detailing their research interests and suitability for the position, along with three references. Dr. Wilke will oversee the selection process.

Additional Information:
