Research Opportunities in Molecular Neuropathology

The Dementia Laboratory, a multidisciplinary research group at the Indiana University School of Medicine, has openings for postdoctoral research fellows to contribute to the understanding of neurodegenerative diseases. Our research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration, with a particular emphasis on the role of misfolded proteins in the development of Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal dementias, Parkinson's disease, and other neurodegenerative disorders.

As a postdoctoral research fellow, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of experienced researchers and clinicians to design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and publish research findings in high-impact journals. You will also have the chance to participate in multidisciplinary projects integrating neuropathology with cutting-edge brain imaging, clinical neurology, protein chemistry, and molecular genetics.

The Dementia Laboratory's Brain Library contains specimens from over 2500 individuals, providing a unique resource for studying a wide range of neurodegenerative diseases. You will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, including light microscopy, immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, and cryo-electron microscopy.

About the Laboratory

The Dementia Laboratory is a research group within the Indiana University School of Medicine, dedicated to understanding the molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases. About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral research fellow to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field, and experience in experimental design, data analysis, and publication of research findings.

The postdoctoral research fellow will work under the supervision of Dr. Bernardino Ghetti and Dr. Kathy L. Newell, and will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new treatments for neurodegenerative diseases.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field, and at least 2 years of postdoctoral research experience. Applicants must also have a strong background in experimental design, data analysis, and publication of research findings.
