Project Construction Manager - Job Overview

The Improve Group (IG) is seeking a skilled Project Construction Manager to lead and oversee a diverse range of construction initiatives, particularly those utilizing advanced modular construction techniques and tailored storage solutions for military and Department of Defense (DOD) projects.

The Project Construction Manager is responsible for executing detailed project plans created by IG Project Managers, ensuring that all teams, both internal and external, are aligned and working towards successful project completion. This role requires maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders, including the Project Manager, Director of Project Delivery, and clients, regarding the progress of their respective projects.

This position necessitates continuous operational support at construction sites, meaning that the individual will be required to work on-site at various project locations.

Our ideal candidate will be flexible in terms of location and project assignment, as project duration and location will vary based on specific project requirements. Work schedules may include weekends and overnight shifts, and the individual will report directly to the Director of Project Delivery.

As a Project Construction Manager at Improve Group, it is essential to be strategic, resourceful, and enthusiastic about solving challenges in the field.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Pre-Construction Engagement:
Participate in essential pre-construction meetings, including informational sessions with Project Managers and site visits with key stakeholders.
  2. Site Management:
Regularly travel to project sites to provide ongoing support, ensuring quality service and timely completion from all vendors and subcontractors. Enforce safety protocols to protect all personnel on-site.
  3. Logistics Coordination:
Collaborate with Project Managers regarding product orders, deliveries, and logistics, ensuring critical items are integrated into project schedules.
  4. Project Oversight:
Thoroughly monitor the status of each project, guiding teams to completion while maintaining weekly communication with Project Managers to uphold project timelines.
  5. Project Closeout:
Work with the Project Manager and Director of Construction to compile necessary documentation for project closeout packages.

Required Skills and Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial construction is required, with 5+ years preferred. A Bachelor's degree in construction is advantageous, along with at least 2 years of experience as a Superintendent. The ability to navigate project schedules and communicate updates effectively is crucial.

Candidates should possess the capability to drive projects forward amidst uncertainty and adapt to various project scopes. Willingness to travel to job sites for extended periods is essential, as is experience in secure government environments.

Proficiency in MS Suite applications, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Dynamics, is required. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members across different time zones are necessary.

A clean driving record and valid driver's license are mandatory. Prior military experience and security clearance with the DOD are advantageous but not required.

Compensation and Benefits:
Competitive base salary range ($60,000-$75,000), performance-based incentives, participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), 401K retirement matching, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage. Paid time off and holidays are also included.
