Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused professional to join our dedicated team at the Minnesota Center for Psychology. As a key member of our billing department, you will be responsible for managing the entire medical billing process, from answering clients' billing inquiries to processing insurance claims, ensuring proper documentation, and facilitating communication between clients, clinicians, and insurance companies.

In this role, you will be integral in ensuring the clinic's billing process runs smoothly and efficiently, and that clients' inquiries are addressed with care and professionalism. This position requires excellent attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and comfort in managing both administrative tasks and direct communication with clients, clinicians, and insurance companies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Answer clients' billing-related inquiries, providing clear and accurate information.
  • Process insurance billing, ensuring all claims are submitted correctly and timely.
  • Collect and verify necessary documentation from clients for insurance purposes.
  • Follow up on claims with insurance companies and payors to resolve billing issues or discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to ensure that all patient information is accurate and up to date.
  • Accurately record patient information, including insurance details and billing codes.
  • Assist other Medical Billers with follow-up inquiries, claims processing, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with patients, clinicians, and insurance representatives.
  • Stay up to date with insurance requirements, billing codes, and regulatory changes specific to mental health services.

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in medical billing is required; experience in mental health billing is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, including comfort with phone-based interactions.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Experience working with insurance payors and understanding insurance processes and requirements.
  • Familiarity with mental health services and applicable billing codes (e.g., CPT codes for therapy and psychiatric services) is highly preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and administrative teams.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and other healthcare regulations.
  • Supervisory experience in a billing role is a plus but not required.

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
