Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Specialist 2 is responsible for inspecting a variety of components, parts, and products within the designated area, adhering to all relevant specifications and quality assurance guidelines.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials, and components at various stages of the production process to ensure adherence to established quality and reliability standards.
  • Participate in the collection of statistical data related to products and processes.
  • Perform visual inspections of soldered connections and mechanical inspections of electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Execute visual inspections of soldered assemblies to IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards and harness assemblies.
  • Prepare and complete all necessary documentation for reporting the acceptance or rejection of inspected and/or tested items.
  • Identify design, process, or other inefficiencies and report quality concerns and issues.
  • Conduct routine quality inspections on engineering designs, assemblies, piece parts, final assemblies, and tooling.
  • Read, write, and comprehend English effectively.
  • Interpret technical drawings with multiple views.
  • Locate and utilize the correct part, assembly, and material specifications or drawings.
  • Apply tolerances and dimensions with the required accuracy and precision.
  • Prepare certifications in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain both hard copy and electronic records.
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Requirements

This role requires approximately 90% sitting and 10% standing/walking indoors. The specialist must perform continuous visual inspections, both with and without magnifying devices, and utilize hand tools, measuring devices, and magnifying devices (e.g., gauges, calipers, rulers). The role involves significant hand grasping and fine finger manipulations using both hands, as well as the ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.


Job Specifications

Education: A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that enables successful performance of job expectations.

Certifications: Vocational training, apprenticeships, or equivalent experience in a related field.

Experience: 2 - 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in Aerospace and Electronics environments.


Skills:
  • Ability to follow established job instructions and procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in applying a systematic QA approach while utilizing existing procedures to resolve a range of technical issues.
  • Skilled in measuring and using test equipment as prescribed by job assignment.
  • In-depth knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, assembly drawings, parts lists, workmanship standards, standard inspection procedures, and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions, including engineering drawings, charts, diagrams, and sketches.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to read written/printed specifications and drawings.
