This role is pivotal in providing tailored support to designated students, focusing on areas such as safety, behavioral decision-making, problem-solving, academic engagement, routine compliance, and following directions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure the physical safety of assigned students.
  • Monitor adherence to school policies and routines.
  • Support students in following directions effectively.
  • Provide cues, redirections, and guidance to promote self-control and compliance.
  • Collaborate with educational staff during emergency situations.
  • Assist students in acquiring skills during academic, social, and physical activities.
  • Support students in self-care tasks as needed.
  • Encourage positive self-esteem through recognition of progress and appropriate choices.
  • Maintain consistent communication with educational staff regarding student progress.
  • Manage the schedules of assigned students.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding student information.
  • Meet all requirements set by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for paraprofessionals.
  • Be physically capable of assisting in preventing self-harm or harm to others during escalated situations.
