WHAT WILL I DO? The Production and Engineering Trainee (PET) program is tailored to equip you for both technical and managerial leadership positions within General Mills.


Your contributions will include:
Enhancing your skills through hands-on experience and responsibility in processing, packaging, and comprehensive manufacturing systems. Gaining firsthand experience in continuous production environments to utilize problem-solving skills and adaptability while driving enhancements and minimizing waste. Collaborating with and guiding Operators, Technicians, and Mechanics to develop your coaching, team-building, and personnel development abilities. Overseeing projects to acquire experience in capital project management, new system implementations, and leadership of initiatives.

The dynamic PET full-time rotational program spans 18 months, focusing on preparing trainees for technical proficiency and leadership opportunities in both Production and Engineering.

Trainees will be assigned to a specific manufacturing facility for the duration of the program.

Upon completion of the program, trainees will transition into a full-time position in production leadership or engineering, determined by a combination of organizational needs and personal aspirations.

Typically, this transition occurs within the same facility where the trainee completed their program; however, relocation to another manufacturing site may be available.

IS THIS YOU? Preferred Qualifications:

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering disciplines such as Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, Food Process, or Biological/Biosystems/Agricultural or a related field. Qualifications for PET roles include a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Milling Science, Food Science, or a related area. Strong academic performance, excellent interpersonal skills, high adaptability, analytical and decision-making capabilities. Proven leadership in people, technical, and process areas, ready to take initiative and contribute value to the team.
