Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with athletic staff to plan and execute transportation routes for upcoming events.
  • Transport athletic teams to in-state and out-of-state competitions, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
  • Regulate bus temperature and ventilation systems to ensure passenger comfort.
  • Drive the bus safely and in compliance with traffic regulations, prioritizing passenger safety.
  • Assume responsibility for passenger safety during loading, unloading, and transportation.
  • Instruct passengers on safety procedures and best practices.
  • Conduct regular bus inspections, checking water, gas, oil, and mechanical conditions before each trip.
  • Report any delays or accidents to the relevant authorities.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and submit regular reports.
  • Identify and report any defects or issues with the bus to the supervisor.
  • Stay up-to-date with traffic and highway safety rules and regulations.
  • Operate the bus in a safe and fuel-efficient manner.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes and university personnel.
  • Complete various forms and records, including updated route sheets, time sheets, and incident reports.
Requirements
  • Hold a valid Class B CDL with a passenger endorsement.
  • Be willing to work nights, weekends, and overnight shifts, including travel in various weather conditions.
  • Possess a preferred Class A CDL with a passenger endorsement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience driving large passenger vehicles, school buses, or commercial motor-coaches.
