Job Title: Intellectual Property Specialist

We are seeking a talented Intellectual Property Specialist for a direct hire opportunity. The selected candidate will be responsible for building and nurturing new client relationships, overseeing both new and existing client relationships, performing preliminary and comprehensive trademark availability searches using U.S. and international databases and third-party vendors, preparing and prosecuting U.S. trademark applications, and managing brand protection efforts.

The ideal candidate should have a law degree from an accredited institution, minimum of 5 years as a practicing attorney, and 5-10 years of relevant experience. Additionally, they should have a portable book of business worth at least $350,000, be licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia or Michigan, and admitted to the USPTO.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and nurture new client relationships.
  • Oversee both new and existing client relationships.
  • Perform preliminary (SAEGIS) and comprehensive trademark availability searches using U.S. and international databases and third-party vendors.
  • Prepare and prosecute U.S. trademark applications, statements of use, notices of allowance, renewals, descriptions of goods and services, specimens, transfers and assignments, and responses to office actions.
  • Handle international trademark prosecution through the Madrid Protocol, Paris Convention, and correspondence with foreign associates and trademark offices including WIPO.
  • Manage brand protection efforts, including reviewing trademark watch notices and the USPTO Official Gazette, researching potential infringements, drafting protest letters, and monitoring follow-up and closure.

Estimated Salary: $145,000 - $165,000 per year, based on industry standards and location. Benefits: Full benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off. Location: Remote work available.
