Role Overview
The Senior Athletic Trainer collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver evidence-based exercise therapy that aligns with patient-centered medical objectives.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement tailored exercise prescriptions based on initial patient assessments, exercise testing, and ongoing monitoring of patient progress.
- Engage directly in patient care, education, program development, and quality improvement initiatives as part of the healthcare team.
- Assess exercise therapy requirements utilizing standardized practices and critical thinking skills.
- Conduct exercise testing when necessary and identify potential medical issues, working collaboratively with the healthcare team to address these concerns.

Patient Education
- Create exercise prescriptions that consider age, medical history, comorbidities, and individual patient needs.
- Provide initial orientation to exercise programs, educating patients on warning signs, safe equipment usage, and program protocols.
- Offer education on various topics, including disease management, safe exercise practices, risk factor modification, medication adherence, stress management, and behavioral changes.

Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all aspects of exercise therapy in medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards through chart audits and organizational surveys.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, medical directors, and other healthcare providers.

Quality Improvement
- Assist in meeting compliance standards set by various accrediting agencies to enhance the safety and quality of care provided to the public.
- Participate in business functions, managing resources efficiently and contributing to quality performance improvement efforts.

Professional Development
- Attend staff meetings and continuing education opportunities, engaging in quality improvement initiatives and cross-training.
- Serve as a resource for community-based exercise programs and assist in training clinical exercise physiology students and new staff members as directed.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a US regionally accredited university in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- A Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred, along with completion of a clinical internship.

Skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with groups of patients, community members, and others.
- Demonstrated passion for utilizing skills to assist patients and colleagues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of managing various patient service issues with efficiency and tact.
