Senior Staff Accountant Job Description

Summary/Objective:

This is a great opportunity for an individual with accounting experience to jump into a role where they can take on additional responsibilities at a small company. We are seeking a self-starter to help perform the day-to-day accounting functions of the company, with room to grow into a controller-level position. This position will have direct communication with the CEO and ownership group.

Accounting Duties:

  • Accounts Payable – Post and pay bills
  • Accounts Receivable – Customer Invoicing, collection follow-up and communication with sales team
  • Treasury Function – Cash management and forecasting, bank portal administration, deposits and payments, petty cash, etc.
  • Bank Accounts – Month-end bank reconciliations
  • Customer Invoicing
  • Event Administration – Communicating with events team and PepReps (event labor)
  • Mail – Collect, distribute and follow-up
  • Month End Journal Entries
  • Month End Reporting and Analysis
  • Budget and Forecasting in conjunction with the management team
  • Assist in monthly sales and use tax reporting
  • Assist in managing the financial statement audit
  • Process Documentation and Improvement
  • Other duties as assigned by the CEO

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related business field, required
  • At least two years of related experience preferred

  • Strong math and record keeping skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to details
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and the ability to quickly learn the company software program

Other:

  • This is a full-time, salaried position with bonus potential

  • Regular work hours are daytime, Monday through Friday; Some evening work may be necessary during peak seasons

  • A Criminal Background Check and Motor Vehicle Report are required
