About the Role

Amazon Lab126 is a pioneering research and development company that designs and engineers innovative consumer electronics. With a rich history dating back to 2004, we have established ourselves as a leader in the industry, creating groundbreaking devices such as Fire tablets, Fire TV, and Amazon Echo. We are now seeking an experienced Systems Development Engineer to join our Design Technologies team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain the systems that Amazon's research, development, and design teams rely on to build the next generation of Amazon digital devices.
  • Coordinate with researchers and engineers to build and support the infrastructure they need.
  • Work with vendors to evaluate, purchase, deploy, and support mission-critical tools.
  • Customize and integrate third-party software to meet Amazon's needs.
  • Improve existing infrastructure to ensure it continues to meet Amazon's high bar for operational excellence.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
  • Experience utilizing AWS cloud solutions in a DevOps environment.
  • Experience building services using AWS products.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix.
  • Experience with networking fundamentals, including hands-on experience with load balancers, switches, routers, etc.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals, including networking, storage, and operating systems.
  • 2+ years of experience managing one or more CAE/FEA tools, such as Ansys, Abaqus, CST, LS-Dyna, Comsol, or Matlab.
  • 2+ years of experience managing one or more schedulers, such as PBS/OpenPBS, Slurm, or IBM LSF.
  • 2+ years of troubleshooting Simulation Job issues in AWS.
  • 2+ years of managing license servers, such as FlexLM-based servers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a high-paced DevOps environment.
  • Experience with distributed systems at scale.
  • Knowledge of database systems and SQL.
  • Knowledge of a front-end language, such as JavaScript, CSS, or HTML.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors, including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
