Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Manager to oversee our Supply Chain and Stockroom departments. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for organizing and developing operational plans and controls, as well as personnel development of employees engaged in providing material support to Production Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for supply chain operations, including sourcing and sub-tier decisions.
  • Plan, schedule, prioritize, and supervise employees engaged in material support activities such as receiving, stocking, inventory control, and picking, packing, and shipping of company products.
  • Lead a team responsible for placing purchase orders, expediting orders as required to support customer demand, and assisting the Purchasing Supervisor and buyers with any supplier issues.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager and Planning Manager to develop monthly production targets in support of corporate and customer objectives.
  • Conduct studies to develop and implement material operations techniques and procedures to improve productivity and cost-effectiveness.
  • Train employees in the application of most cost-effective and efficient procurement procedures, including forecast orders, order bundling, and VMI.
  • Coordinate materials operations activities with company line and staff organizations.
  • Meet monthly targets for cost savings and on-time delivery for suppliers.

Requirements

  • Eligibility for U.S. export control regulations.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • C.P.I.M. Certification is highly desirable.
  • Ten years of directly related experience in materials management, purchasing, or supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment, seven years in a management role.

  • Problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Company and industry material procurement and negotiation practices.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate a major purchasing activity.
  • Highly motivated and a committed team player.
  • Excellent PC skills, including Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • Strong working knowledge of computerized enterprise resource planning systems (ERP) or material requirements planning systems (MRP).
