Position Summary

Ideal Candidate:
The Municipal Construction Oversight Specialist will engage in various Public Works Construction initiatives, including but not limited to concrete installations, drainage systems, utility replacements, and traffic management installations. The role will focus on projects within the Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties. These positions are suitable for individuals seeking part-time or full-time opportunities on a project basis, with project durations ranging from 3 to 7 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily construction activities on-site.
- Monitor and document all contractor activities.
- Compile detailed Daily Reports encompassing measurements, quantities, and project activities.
- Identify and log any construction challenges affecting project scope and specifications.
- Maintain communication with the Construction Manager, municipal representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Document contractor compliance and any violations of contract stipulations, ensuring quality assurance throughout the project.
- Possess a solid understanding of construction methodologies, materials, safety protocols, quality assurance, and contract management.
- Conduct thorough on-site inspections to enforce adherence to plans, specifications, safety standards, and material quality.
- Review traffic management plans to ensure compliance within construction zones.
- Perform constructability assessments of project plans and specifications.
- Assist in evaluating contractor claims and change orders.
- Participate in pre-construction, progress, and field meetings.
- Verify dimensions, measure quantities, and assess material usage.
- Prepare daily reports and provide recommendations regarding construction activities.
Qualifications:
15+ years of experience in Construction Inspection, specifically within municipal Public Works Departments or Water Districts, or providing similar consulting services.
Required Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficient in computer-related tasks.
- Skilled in report preparation and correspondence.
- Adept at identifying project challenges, proposing solutions, and evaluating outcomes.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as standard plans and specifications for public works construction, including guidelines for water and sewer main replacement projects.
Employment Types: Full-time, Part-time, Project-Based, with applicable Prevailing Wage Pay.
