Receptionist Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Receptionist to provide exceptional patient experience and administrative support to our clinical staff at US Oncology Network-wide Career Opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Register and schedule appointments for patients in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Answer, screen, and direct incoming calls to appropriate personnel, relaying messages between patients and clinical staff.
  • Provide and explain paperwork for patients to complete prior to examination, collect and file patient forms, and update demographics and insurance information in the system.
  • Collect co-pays and balances, provide receipts, and communicate messages in an accurate and timely manner according to procedures.
  • Check patients out after examination, schedule returning appointments, and provide patients with appointment details.
  • Record patient cancellations and missed appointments, reschedule appointments, and notify appropriate staff.
  • Provide general administrative support, including filing charts and forms, maintaining the lobby area, and ordering office supplies.
  • Adhere to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines with regards to patient records.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some receptionist or office experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) required.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple demands, shifting priorities, and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Commitment to quality, setting high standards of performance, and working efficiently to achieve them.

Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time, occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Work Environment

The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.

Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients.
