Company: Catalytic Data Science

Job Type: Full-time

About Us:

Catalytic Data Science is a pioneering cloud R&D platform that integrates vast scientific resources, data, and analytic tools, enabling secure and scalable collaboration among R&D teams. Our platform helps teams achieve key milestones faster and with greater accuracy, inspiring innovation in making the world a better place.

The Role:

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Data Engineer with experience in processing terabytes of data. You will create and automate scalable, fault-tolerant, and reproducible data pipelines using Amazon AWS technologies. As a key member of our team, you will help build a platform entirely on top of AWS, collaborating with Life Scientists and Software Engineers who believe in providing the best tools for research innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and operate automated ETL pipelines that process terabytes of text data nightly
  • Develop service frontends around our various backend datastores (AWS Aurora MySQL, Elasticsearch, S3)
  • Perform technical analyses and requirements specification with our product team on data service integrations
  • Assist customers in bringing their data to the platform

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Python 3 or Java programming, preferably both
  • Day-to-day experience using AWS technologies such as Lambda, ECS Fargate, SQS, & SNS
  • Experience building and operating cloud-native data pipelines
  • Experience extracting, processing, storing, and querying of petabyte-scale datasets
  • Familiarity with building and using containers
  • Familiarity with event-based microservices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with Elasticsearch (custom development and/or administration) is highly valued
  • Prior work with text and natural-language processing
  • Knowledge of Graph databases

What We Value:

  • Your ability to learn fast and adapt to shifting technologies is more important than your specialization
  • We appreciate individuals who focus on customer needs and company goals, iterate until customers love what they've built, self-start and initiate, self-organize, strive to grow personally and professionally, and love to experiment with new technology and share knowledge with the team
