Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled CLP Diagnostic Mechanic I to join our team at Freeport-McMoRan Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing diagnostic, maintenance, installation, and repair of equipment and process systems in a Concentrate Leach Plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing systems and equipment
  • Perform maintenance repairs in a highly acidic environment with high temperatures and pressures on various equipment
  • Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on bearings and oil seals and perform equipment checks
  • Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed
  • Perform maintenance such as alignments and mechanical seals on rotating equipment
  • Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections
  • Train and mentor other employees
  • Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, boom trucks, overhead cranes, and loading equipment
  • Perform welding: air arc, plasma arc, heli-arc, TIG, and stick
  • Perform fabrication and repair of plate steel and structural steel components
  • Welding of Exotic metals, i.e., Titanium, Duplex, and Stainless Steel
  • Perform responsibilities of a Fill in Supervisor as needed
  • Perform other duties as required
Requirements
  • Minimum Qualifications: Two (2) years of experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance
  • Possess knowledge of construction of valve types, sizes, and styles
  • Proficient and troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing systems and equipment
  • Proficient in using precision measuring tools such as: micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform 480 volt, and below electrical lockout procedures (LOTOTO)
Preferred
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Able to pass welding certification test for structural steel
Work Environment

The work environment is a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles.

Physical Demands

The employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms. Occasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work day.

Compensation

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $37.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits, or retirement contributions.
