Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Mechanic to join our team at Freeport-McMoRan Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing diagnostic, maintenance, installation, and repair of equipment and process systems in a Concentrate Leach Plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing systems and equipment
  • Perform maintenance repairs in a highly acidic environment with high temperatures and pressures on various equipment
  • Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on bearings and oil seals and perform equipment checks
  • Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed
  • Perform maintenance such as alignments and mechanical seals on rotating equipment
  • Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections
  • Train and mentor other employees
  • Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, boom trucks, overhead cranes, and loading equipment
  • Perform welding: air arc, plasma arc, heli-arc, TIG, and stick
  • Perform fabrication and repair of plate steel and structural steel components
  • Welding of Exotic metals, i.e., Titanium, Duplex, and Stainless Steel
  • Perform responsibilities of a Fill in Supervisor as needed
Requirements
  • Minimum Qualifications: Two (2) years of experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance
  • Possess knowledge of construction of valve types, sizes, and styles
  • Proficient in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform 480 volt, and below electrical lockout procedures (LOTOTO)
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude

Compensation

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $37.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits, or retirement contributions.
