Collections Specialist

University of Advancing Technology is seeking a highly skilled Collections Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our financial services department, you will play a crucial role in managing our accounts receivable, ensuring timely collection of outstanding student balances, and providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities:- Monitor and manage a portfolio of student accounts, ensuring timely collection of payments and adherence to payment schedules.
- Contact students and other account holders via phone, email, and written communication to resolve delinquent balances.
- Collaborate with financial aid, student services, and other departments to resolve account discrepancies and facilitate payment arrangements.
- Assist in preparing and sending collection letters, payment reminders, and other necessary documentation.
- Process payments and set up payment plans for students and other account holders.
- Maintain accurate records of account status, payment history, and communication with students or third-party agencies.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing account-related inquiries, concerns, and disputes in a professional and courteous manner.
- Generate regular reports on account status, collection activity, and outstanding balances for management review.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Preferred 2 years of experience in accounts receivable, collections, or related financial services field; experience in an educational setting is a plus.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of financial software and systems.
