Job Overview

K2 Staffing is actively seeking a proficient Estimator to enhance our team. In this role, you will be tasked with delivering precise and prompt cost assessments for residential building projects. We are in search of a candidate who possesses a robust background in construction cost analysis, exceptional analytical abilities, and the skill to assess project needs and specifications efficiently.

Position Summary

The selected candidate will play a crucial role in our estimating department, providing reliable and timely cost evaluations for residential construction endeavors. The ideal applicant will have substantial experience in construction estimating, strong analytical skills, and the capability to interpret project requirements and specifications to accurately determine costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine project blueprints, specifications, and drawings to grasp the project scope and requirements.
  • Calculate the necessary materials, labor, and resources for construction projects based on the provided plans and specifications.
  • Develop comprehensive cost estimates, which include material take-offs, labor expenses, subcontractor quotes, and overhead costs.
  • Assess project requirements and limitations to pinpoint potential cost-saving measures and value engineering options.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather essential information for accurate estimations.
  • Review supplier and subcontractor proposals, negotiate pricing, and build relationships to ensure competitive rates and quality.
  • Maintain and update cost databases, pricing catalogs, and historical data to support precise estimating practices.
  • Prepare and deliver cost estimates to clients, offering explanations and justifications for the proposed costs as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience as an Estimator within the construction sector, ideally in residential projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and cost estimating methodologies.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and the MS Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to accurately quantify and evaluate project costs.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
