Project Engineer Job Description

At Hoyle Tanner and Associates, Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our Northeast Municipal Engineering Services Group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the delivery of conventional refurbishment and new decentralized wastewater infrastructure projects, including primary treatment, biological treatment process, tertiary treatment, disinfection, solids handling, and hydraulics.
  • Participate in wastewater treatment facility, pump station, and collection and conveyance project study, design, and construction phase engineering.
  • Prepare calculations, layouts, modeling, estimates, drawings, specifications, and report writing under the direction of senior engineers and project managers.
  • Design in AutoCAD or Civil 3D and lead and guide junior engineers and CADD teammates.
  • Develop an understanding of project budget, scope of services, project development, and project schedule, and provide updates and recommendations to the Project Manager.
  • Understand the client's organization, key people, and client expectations, and share best practices to improve performance and efficiency of self and team.
  • Develop person-hour estimates and budgets with guidance from senior staff, lead small teams for moderately complex projects, and assist in proposal efforts and development.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and feedback to develop entry-level and staff engineers, peers, and others as needed, conduct site visits, and participate in or lead meetings with clients/contractors.
  • Demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills for deliverables, proposals, and presentations in a public setting.

Requirements:

  • BSCE with current PE in NH, VT, or ME or ability to test for PE within one year.
  • 4-9 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in two or more: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Hydro-CAD, ArcView, MS Office.
