Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the overall strategic vision and administration of the tax firm.
  • Offer specialized tax counsel to affluent individuals, corporations, and various entities.
  • Formulate and execute tax planning initiatives for clients to maximize their financial outcomes.
  • Act on behalf of the firm and its clients in dealings with tax authorities and during legal proceedings, as necessary.
  • Stay abreast of current tax legislation and evaluate its implications for clients and the firm.
  • Establish and uphold the firm's policies, procedures, and quality benchmarks to ensure adherence to professional and regulatory standards.
  • Foster and sustain relationships with clients, governmental bodies, and other external stakeholders.
  • Guide, mentor, and cultivate a team of tax professionals, promoting a culture of ongoing improvement and excellence.
  • Scrutinize intricate tax returns and financial statements prepared by staff, ensuring precision and compliance.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for business development to broaden the firm's client base and service offerings.
  • Oversee the firm's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with other senior leaders and departments to align tax strategies with overarching business goals.
  • Provide thought leadership by participating in conferences, contributing to publications, and engaging in professional organizations.
  • Ensure the effective use of technology and software to improve efficiency and client service in tax preparation and advisory.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline; Master's degree or Juris Doctorate preferred.
  • Active CPA license or equivalent tax-related professional certification.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive tax experience in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership capacity with a focus on tax advisory.
  • Extensive understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience in tax planning and strategy for both individuals and businesses.
  • Proven expertise in complex tax research and analysis.
  • Strong grasp of business and financial principles.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain high-level client relationships.
  • Familiarity with tax software and technology platforms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
  • Strong managerial and mentorship skills.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven history of generating new business and expanding client services.
  • Commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as required, particularly during peak seasons.
  • Familiarity with international tax laws and regulations is advantageous.
  • Engagement in community and professional organizations to enhance the firm's reputation and outreach.
